Zund and Alpicto Take Inkjet Beyond Print Graphics |

October 7, 2005 - Alpicto, a subsidiary of Europe’s largest kitchen
manufacturer Alno AG, has since 2001 developed the process that will
give UVjet prints the durability required in the tough kitchen
environment. It also opens a world of new opportunities inside and
outside the general furniture industry.
Zünd and alpicto have joined to make this unique process exclusively available to existing and new
Zünd UVjet users.
Durability Features
Extensive testing has been carried out to guarantee that all relevant
DIN norms are fulfilled. The guaranteed durability features include but
are not limited to:
• Colour-, shine- and light-fastness
• Scratch and abrasion resistance (DIN 68861)
• Insensitive to moisture, steam, heat and frost (DIN 68861)
• Resistant to chemicals, acid and leach (DIN 68861)
• Food safe (DIN 53160)
In addition to the high durability feature either matt or glossy
effects as well as self cleaning or anti-graffiti features can be
applied to the printed surfaces.
New opportunities for digital printing include:
• kitchens, restaurants, living and waiting areas, showrooms, bedrooms,
bathrooms, children’s rooms, offices, day-care and hospital facilities,

Laser Targeting Systems, Inc. developed its laser-based alignment
technology to boost productivity and reduce errors in garment screen
printing. The Laser Targeting System works on manual and automatic
garment presses and heat-transfer machines. Its lasers produce light on
top of the garment, allowing the operator to see where the image will
print. The first step is to run a test pellon to determine image
placement. Next, the user lines up the lasers to the image and decides
where the image should be printed. From there, the operator will know
where the image will appear on each garment.

New Print Driver and Upgrade for Color-Management Software |

ColorGATE has made an upgrade for its color-management software
available for free download at www.colorgate.com. Version 4.05 focuses
on Speed Screen, a new stochastic raster technology designed to
increase productivity in large-format-inkjet output. Speed Screen is
available for ProductionServer4, PhotoGate4, and ProofGate4
applications. ColorGATE says Speed Screen can deliver a 400% increase
in efficiency. The company also has made available new print drivers
for these software programs and added support to each for the X-Rite
DTP70 color-measurement device.

Esko-Graphics Launches New Kongsberg Cutting Tables |

XF10 and i-XF10 can accept material as large as 35.4 x 47.2 inches.
Esko-Graphics has introduced two smaller-format Kongsberg dieless
cutting systems—the Kongsberg I- the XF10 and the i-XF10. Both machines
come standard with a vacuum table that has a work area of 31.5 x 43.3
in., and both can accept material as large as 35.4 x 47.2 in.
The XF10 is geared more toward the corrugated packaging
market. Its feature set includes a rack-and-pinion X/Y drive, a
pressure-controlled kiss-cutting knife tool, a knife tool with
programmable cutting depth, a static knife for solid materials, a
reciprocating knife for corrugated and foam board, and a crease tool
for packaging materials.
The i-XF10, on the other hand, is designed to appeal to
signmaking, screenprinting, and digital-print markets. Produced in
conjunction with Mikkelssen Graphic Engineering (MGE), the i-XF10
integrates MGE’s i-cut Vision registration system. The table includes:
an integrated i-cut camera that aligns graphics via the printed
registration marks, and an optional conveyor belt so that rolls of
printed graphics can be fed onto the table. Tooling is geared to
cutting graphics and signage, and includes tangential knife tools,
micro-and kisscut tools, creasing tools, and pen plotting tools.
The i-XF10 is shipping now; the XF10 begins shipping in early 2006.
Launched earlier this year, the company’s Kongsberg i-XL20, i-XL24, and
i-XL44 also utilize the MGE i-cut system on larger-format tables—from
66 x 50 to 87 x 120 in.—featuring speeds up to 164 sq ft/min.

Whether it's four-color process, simulated process, or index
separations, textile printers are faced with addressing dot gain on a
massive scale, especially compared to graphics printers. Garment shops
are up against a number of variables that compound themselves. For
instance, the surface on which they print is 65-90% solid, which means
there is a 10-35% chance of missing a printable surface. The surface
also is absorbent and highly compressible. It is almost impossible to
form a good gasket with the stencil in order to maintain dot integrity.
On top of this, the twisted yarn structure is highly irregular.

I've since found pad printing to be a wonderful technique. It
prints on uneven surfaces. Users can choose from a wide range of ink
systems, substrates, and machines�from hand-operated units to those
with digitally controlled servo actuation. Pad printing can handle fine
lines and halftones. It prints wet on wet. Large reservoirs of
technical know how support the process, and it's relatively inexpensive
to start up in pad printing. Better still, the basics are easy to
learn.

Visokohitrostni Laser za Sitotiskarje |

Na Tiskarskem Forumu 2005 v Postojni je pritegnilo veliko pozornost
predavanje italijaske firme Sei. Ettore Colico je predstavil tehnološke
rešitve pri uporabi laserja, kjer je predstavil primere uporabe laserja
v svetu sitotiska.
Uporaba laserja v sitotisku, ki je bila nekoč znanstvena
fantastika, je sedaj realna možnost, ki je ponekod že v uporabi. Po
mnenju g. Colica je uporaba hitrega laserja alternativa in prihodnst v
svetu sitotiska.
Vse nove tehnologije, ki so prinesle nove (boljše) rešitve so sedaj v uporabi. To se je zgodilo v digitalnem tisku.
Z
laserjem lahko tiskovni material režemo, površinko graviramo in
razbarvamo površine kot so tkanine, kože, kovinske plošče in posebne
materiale. Lahko naredimo tiskovine s posebnimi efekti...

Slovenian Italian PRINT FORUM 2005 |

The Slovenian-Italian Print Forum took place in Postojna, Slovenia
on the September the 30th and October the 1st. The event is a
continuation of three previous succesful Slovenian Print Forums, which
have grown over the borders of Slovenia and began seriously flirting
with the international possibilities of the event.
Reknowned experts of print gave lectures
at the event, among them Michel Caza, a legend of print and a key
figure in the world of printing today. The seminar part included eleven
lectures, seven from Italian speakers, two from Slovenia and Great
Britain and one from France. More than 300 people from Slovenia, Italy,
Croatia and Germany attended the event.
Besides the lectures there was also an exhibtion,
where 22 companies (10 from Italy, 8 from Slovenia, 3 from Great
Britain and 1 from Germany).
The event is a leaping board for everybody who
wants in on the latest technologies, achievements and guidelines in
digital, screen and pad printing.
The Slovenian-Italian Print Forum was organised by
the Section for Screen, Digital and Pad Print (Slovenian Chamber of
Commerce) and the SDT Institute Sezana in cooperation with the CeSDT
(Center for screen, digital and pad printing) Portal Community, FESPA
(European Printing Federation) and Visual Communication (biggest event
in the area of visual communications and event communications).
This year's event was groundbreaking in another aspect, as the attendance at
the event was free for everybody who registered not later than 5 days before
the event. The whole event was organised through the CeSDT
Portal , which
is rapidly developing into a global printing community and an environment for
the future.

Bodite pripravljeni na revolucijo v svetu tiska - prihod 3D tiskalnikov! |

Podjetje IB-PROCADD d.o.o. bo premierno predstavilo
barvne 3D tiskalnike VIDAR za tržišče JV Evrope. 3D tiskanje bo na
edinstven način izboljšalo delovni proces vseh, ki se ukvarjate z
oblikovanjem, arhitekturo, geografijo, geodezijo, geologijo, medicino,
znanostjo,... Na izdelavo prototipov ali končnih izdelkov ne bo več
treba čakati več dni, ampak bo fizični model končan že v bistveno
krajšem času. Konec je z dragimi in zamudnimi postopki.
3D CAD datoteko pošljemo na tiskalnik. Ta jo s pomočjo programske
opreme obdela in model razsloji na tanke plasti. V ponavljajočem
zaporedju - prah, barva, lepilo - tiskalnik izdela končni izdelek.
Debelina plasti, ki jo tiskalnik nanese v enem prehodu je od 0,089mm do
0,203mm.
Hitrost same izdelave je odvisna od kakovosti izdelave - tanjša
plast pomeni večjo kakovost.Tiskalnik zmore nanesti dve plasti v
minuti. Izdela lahko modele dimenzij 254mm x 203mm x 356mm. Navedene
mere pa ne predstavljajo nikakršnih omejitev za vaše potrebe, saj lahko
model razdelite, natisnete in nato, s pomočjo priložene programske
opreme, sestavite iz več ločenih delov. Modeli so izdelani v
ločljivosti 600dpi x 540dpi, kar zagotavlja popoln izgled.
Zahteve
Tiskalnik lahko postavite kar neposredno v pisarno, saj nima
posebnih prostorskih zahtev, to pa omogočajo tudi majhne dimenzije
(107cm x 79cm x 127cm). Domače se počuti v operacijskih sistemih
Windows 2000 in XP, na osebni računalnik pa ga povežete preko TCP/IP
naslova. Priložena programska oprema podpira 3D datoteke STL, VRML in
PLY.
3D tiskanje bo spremenilo tudi delo tiskarjev. Zagotovite si
vpogled v svet 3D tiska in možnosti, ki jih ponuja vam že sedaj. CeSDT
portalna skupnost priporoča obisk 3D printing SHOW-a - 16., 17., 18. in
21. novembra v Ljubljani.

substrate can seem like an impossible task. Gandinnovations’ High
Definition (HD) Backlit Camera option for the Jeti 3312, 3318, and 5000
flatbed UV inkjet printers might be the solution you need. The system
uses an electronically enhanced camera and video-capture board to
obtain a precise match on the front and back of a substrate. The
software automatically registers print targets so that when the
substrate material is reversed, the camera (attached to the printheads)
tracks the image from the reversed side by calibrating with image
targets. The technology also allows for the ability to catch skews or
stretching that can occur at the middle of the substrate.

Apple prej na Intelu |

Po zagotovilih zanesljivih virov naj bi Apple načrtoval predstavitev
prvih prenosnikov iBook s procesorji podjetja Intel že januarja
prihodnje leto na konferenci Macworld Expo v San Franciscu. Podrobnosti
o procesorjih za zdaj še niso točno poznane, skoraj gotovo pa bo
vgrajen procesor z razvojnim imenom Yonah, ki je naslednik Pentiuma M.
Na voljo naj bi bil še en dodaten model prenosnikov, najcenejši med
njimi pa naj bi bil 200 dolarjev cenejši od zdajšnjega najšibkejšega
predstavnika razreda iBook. S tem korakom želi Apple privabiti
uporabnike okolja Windows, napovedal pa je tudi spopad z izdelovalci
kot so Dell, Gateway, HP in Sony.

Digitalne tehnologije se razvijajo vse hitreje, različni ponudniki
nenehno medsebojno tekmujejo, kdo bo ponudil tržišču nov izdelek, izum,
noviteto. Tudi na področju velikoformatnega tiska je to tako – nenehno
izpopolnjevanje tehnologij, predvsem pa vedno večje možnosti različnih
aplikacij. Plakati in transparenti še zdaleč niso več edini izdelki, ki
jih ta tehnologija omogoča – tiskamo lahko že skoraj na kateri koli
material, od blaga do kovin, talnih oblog ... Možnosti so skorajda
neomejene, važno je le, da vemo, na koga se moramo obrniti, kadar imamo
